Organic Dates

In Pakistan, the Aseel variety of dates is considered one of the best varieties for commercial use. It is grown mainly in the Khairpur District of Sindh Province through both organic and conventional methods. The Aseel Date Palms stand tall with a beautiful canopy of green ferns around. The fruit matures in July – August for harvest. The growers cut the fruit bunch and pick the half-ripened pieces for insertion under sunlight to turn into soft dates. The rest of 80-90% fruit is manually removed from the bunches then treated with hot water at boiling point. When boiled dates are exposed to sunlight for at least three days, they eventually become dried dates known as Chhohara. The soft dates are processed for cleaning, grading, pitting, dicing then packed in boxes for export or local sales.
